the time i slept through valentine's morning

There is something about taking a muscle relaxer right before midnight the day before Valentine's Day.

It means that you sleep through your kids' morning Valentine's celebration.

Wait, I take that back.

You wake up at 2:00 a.m. to dig through holiday tubs in the freezing cold garage to find the Valentine's Day mailboxes and put treats inside.

After that, you crash on the couch.

When you hear your excited children race downstairs, you briefly wake up and mumble to your husband, "get the camera!"

And then you return to your comatose state.

Heart shaped pancakes for breakfast you ask?

Nope.

And they survived.

Photos taken by the hubs instead of myself?

I survived.

Instead, I woke up and realized that it was past 9:00 a.m. I overcame my sense of mom guilt and disappointment of missing the kids open their gifts by realizing that my sweet husband possibly gave me the best Valentine's Day gift ever.

Sleep.

Hope you had a day full of love, kisses, and hugs.

Much love,
Katie

I think we as mothers tend to make somethings bigger issues than we need to! I gave myself permission this year to buy cupcakes and cake for his sons birthday party at a bakery. I think we will all survive. I am trying to keep it as simple as possible this year since we are adopting and that in and of itself is stressful enough. Hope you had a great 4 day weekend!

I've missed quiet a few things for the same reason. Thank God for husbands who care for us. Thank God for "grace upon grace' to cover those guilt-lies. I NEED both.

In my humble opinion, sleeping in is BY FAR the best Valentine's gift anyone could ever give.
