I realized that kids can feel as wiped out as we do sometimes. It was proven by the fact that he slept on the way to gym at 8:30 a.m.
The early morning rush, staying in my classroom after school, running to karate, and rushed bedtimes may be getting to him as much as it is to me. Don't all moms feel it at this time of the year? I am realizing the kids feel it too.
After the gym, we headed to Target to search for Lego spinners. As we were driving, he randomly asked me something that I'm still chewing on today.
"You still have your students?"
"You mean, am I still teaching?" I clarified. "Yep, I am still teaching."
"I don't like when you do that all the day." Translation: It sucks when you work everyday, Mama.
Silence. Guilt. More silence.
Transitions are not easy for 4 year olds. Their little hearts feel big things.
We swung by the outlet mall for a quick look for pillows for our sofa and a new handbag. It may seem like an indulgence, but once a year around my birthday I buy myself a fancy schmancy handbag at the outlet mall. It is another tradition I love.
Finally, we made it to Legoland. We hit up Jack's agenda. He kept it simple: ice cream, a game, and Mini- land.
We skipped rides and the play areas. It was fun to let him do the games since they cost extra and if we let one boy do them, we have to let all boys do them. I influenced him towards the game that had a guaranteed prize. He is our only boy who is a nut for stuffed animals.
And since Target and Legoland didn't have the only toy all 3 of our boys want for Easter, we headed to Toys "R" Us. He fell asleep in the car and slept in the cart while I shopped.
Don't ask me how he does it. It is not his first time. He gets this mad skill of sleeping anywhere at anytime from his Dad. I was just glad he didn't see me finally score the Lego spinners. Yes, we celebrate the true meaning of Easter in our house, but my kids also like toys and candy.
It was a full day with Jack.
Yes, it was full of things to do, but it was more full of fun, time together, and love.
Much love,
Katie

Happy Easter Katie! My Mommy-heart is feeling those working-pains over here too. Funny how they can tell you in so many words.
We scored Lego stuff for Easter as well. What would we do without Lego?
Have a great weekend!
