it's a God thing-weekend link up

love

I distinctly remember when I walked into the peach and white teachers' lounge ten years ago.

The day began like any other typical work day. I ran through my morning routine and headed off to work. The only that thing that was unusual was that I didn't watch the news since we just moved into our home and had yet to set up our cable.

As I jammed to whatever CD was playing in my car, I thought of the many tasks to get accomplished with my 5th graders that hot day of September 11, 2001.

Upon entering the staff lounge I immediately noticed the bee hive of teachers clustered around the TV. A look of utter disbelief washed over their faces. I watched with them as the towers lit up in flames.

The footage replayed the images of the the airplanes. I stood in disbelief. It was beyond comprehension.

The morning bell rang and quickly awakened us from our zombie like state so we could greet our students for what certainly would not be a typical day.

The typical we knew the day before now ceased to exist.

So much has changed as a result of that tragic day.

However, the one thing that has not changed is God's love for us.

Much like my disbelief being beyond comprehension on September 11, 2001, so is His love.

May we take this Sunday, September 11, 2011 to remember not only the lives of the those lost and of our brave service men and women, but also of God's love.

Much love,
Katie

A day we will never forget. Watching the footage brings me to tears more today than it did 10 years ago. Are you guys doing the hike in the morning and then the fire station at 4?

Thank you for sharing your story, Katie; I've been feeling a little "off" the last couple of days, knowing the anniversary is near. I hope that love is the only language we speak this weekend, to honor those who lost their lives and all those who serve and protect our country.

Much love. xoxo

I don't think any American will forget what they were doing the moment they heard of the 9/11 attacks. I fell asleep with the tv on the night before my husband worked nights at the time when I woke up the tv was still in and a burning building was in the tv screen it was 530am, Ca time. I paid no attention I turned it off and started my day with my boys they were 2 and 6 mos. At the time. My husband came home at 7 and asked me if I had heard. I ant believe how inattentive I was. That brief moment is burned into my brain, along with the remainder of that day.
On a lighter note. We are listening o your hubbys cd while waiting in the pic up line at school.<3 it!
I love the pic in this post also.

Hi Katie, I hope I'm back in the blogging game. I've found it so hard to keep up with my own and everyone else's the past couple of months, but I hope to jump back in. I also did a lot of reflecting this weekend. I felt really impacted because I was 9 mos. pregnant with my first. Since then I have 2 kids who have never known their country not at war. But like you said - our hope is in something far greater than what we can see and the circumstances surrounding us. Thanks for being my 1st follow at the new blog!!! Hopefully I can start linking up on Fridays because I love the idea of your God thing posts in spite of not being able to get my act together in the past to actually link up.
